Wrigley's Extra, is a gum recommended by dentists and has made several false problems since being on shelves, such as the embarrassment consumers face if they don't 'Eat, Drink, Chew' or the horrifying notion that some people don't have spearmint flavoured breath. These false problems allow consumers to think what they are buying is good and there are no faults to the product. Think again buyers!
Wrigley's Extra is wildly overpackaged, containing four different types of packaging, which when combined weigh almost half of the product. The weight of the product is 34g and 16g of this product is plastics, foils and papers. Therefore when buying the product you are not buying the gum you are also purchasing the packaging, which ends up in incinerators or landfills along with the gum which is spat out. Wrigley's Extra are unethical producers making packaging that is extremely overpackaged and the gum is just as irresponsible, " One of the main sweeteners used in this gum is Acesulfame K. According to Medicine Net, Acesulfame K contains the chemical methylene chloride, which has been proven to cause cancer in humans, along with milder symptoms such as headache and nausea" (http://www.livestrong.com/article/154394-ingredients-in-wrigleys-extra-gum/.)
